The One with the Business Card

What a perfectly fantastic day for garage sale shopping.
(I would just write "garage saling" but "saling" just doesn't seem proper.
I'm pretty sure it's not a word at all.
But that's the word I say when I'm going shopping at garage sales.
Oh well.)
I had checked out Craigslist all week to scope out possible sales.
There were two multi-family sales nearby
AND a neighborhood wide sale just down the road.
Perfect.
Those are the best kinds.

I made it out the door around 9:15--the sales opened at 9.
There were quite a lot of shoppers out and about already.
I made my rounds and had quite the success.
The neighborhood sale was awesome.
At least 2 sales on every street, totaling somewhere around 20 sales.
Woot.
My kind of day!

Kevin is heading straight to his parents' house after work.
He's going to hang with his brother and then take his mama out for a belated Mother's Day dinner.
I hope they have a fabulous time--just the two of them.

I tell you that, because that is why I'm about to go cleaning crazy on so many neglected corners of the house.
Nothing too extreme.
Just regular cleaning that has been put on the back shelf--
probably because we don't use 75% of the house 75% of the time.
Except when we have all our teens here weekly.
And our friends or ALL of our family.
It's really nice to have extra room!

And without further ado, I give you............
the garage sale finds.

*pardon the poor-quality slash blurry photos.
That's what I get for dropping my little point and shoot on the cement.

::double-breasted black pea coat from Old Navy::
Brand New condition, missing a belt (that's an easy fix!)
selling for $5
purchased for $4

::sheer white flowered* blouse::
selling for $0.75. purchased for $0.50
::adorable knit lightweight scarf (that I've been searching for)::
purchased for $0.10!! a DIME, people!
*I totally spelled "flowered" "floured."
I guess I bake too much.

::modern elegant glass vase--$0.50
::kitchen scale (on my list!)--selling  for $2, purchased for $1
::Tupperware Popsicle makers--$0.25

::two (MORE) adorable purses::
pink and brown.
selling for $1 each. purchased for $0.75 each.

::floral dress::
fits perfect. uber comfortable. another item on my "wish" list.
selling for $2, purchased for $1

I also managed to snag a large exercise ball for just $1.
Kevin and I were wanting to try them out as desk chairs.

Mom gave me hers.
Kevin was jealous.

So the gray ball I purchased today will make him quite happy, I'm sure.

At one of the sales, I got to chatting with the homeowner after I asked why her kids were home.
I figured they were homeschooled.
I was right.
We talked a lot about that topic and I mentioned contacting homeschool groups to start increasing my piano studio for the fall.
That prompted her to ask for my name because her daughter--an 8th grader--is really interested in lessons.
I said, "I have my card right here!"
It was my first time handing out one of my business cards.
I felt pretty awesome about it. :)
And here's hoping I build a nice bunch of students up for work in the fall!

Happy weekend!
